Thanks for the comments folks! I agree with mghoodes view on the future of robotics as much as the vision of a robotic baby is in fact creepy! Anyone remember Chucky?

Don't give up hope on seeing your nephew's creation though. Technology advances so rapidly nowadays that the odds are he will be working on version 2 or 3 before you and I move on! Hey, maybe he'll even find a way to keep us going long past our expiry dates! That is my youngest's goal; "find a way so things don't die". He's 5.

The dog certainly sounds like a Steven King horror story.

I really liked the Sony Robotic Cat and am quite disappointed that they dropped the project and never went beyond the initial product. All the cat did was meow and purr when scratched in the proper places. Although it's repugnant to many, a good part of our robotic future will be things like kittens, puppies and forgive me but babies also. There is something special about the start of life (animal) and it is lost forever but can be reclaimed in robotics.

I probably will never see it but I have asked my nephew who is studying robotics to think of making version 2 of the robotic cat.

Hi -- I just wanted to say that the marketing spin on that gave me a good laugh. If they are really using the latest artificial intelligence software to create robotic dogs I am tremendously bothered haha. I completely agree with you about the letter also, your son deserved better. Have a nice day.
